History
|
Abrasive blast manipulators were first developed in the early 1980s by Tammec a subsidiary of Tampella, the large and successful Finnish engineering company. The first installation was at Tampella’s own workshop in 1982. The very first robot, featuring an automated, teachable control system, was proudly delivered in 1985 to Valmet in Jyväskylä, Finland. Exports soon followed in 1986 with the delivery of the first manipulator to the Tudor workshop in Sweden. 1988 then saw Tammec's robot branch moved to Rautaruukki Ltd in Oulu. |
In 1997 Rautaruukki decided to concentrate on its core business, steel production, and Blastman Robotics Ltd was duly founded in order to continue the development, construction and marketing of the robots. Today the range of services provided by Blastman Robotics Ltd has grown to include entire abrasive blast and surface treatment lines. Blastman robots and manipulators are now in use worldwide, and with over 25 years of first-hand experience, Blastman is now firmly established as the world's leading manufacturer of abrasive blast-cleaning robots and manipulators. |
